Quarry Hill Nature Center | Minnesota Mammals | Blue Rhino Studio
As part of the renovation of the large exhibit hall at Quarry Hill Nature Center in Rochester Minnesota (designed and fabricated by Blue Rhino Studio), I illustrated a series of life-size mammals for an interactive feature where visitors can feel swatches of real fur and hide. Each animal was digitally painted at full life size, then printed onto a heavy sheet of HPL (a type of super-durable laminated material) then profile cut with samples of fur installed behind the panel. Animals illustrated include white-tailed deer, black bear, raccoon, coyote, red fox, grey fox, beaver, eastern cottontail, skunk and opossum. (©Blue Rhino Studio)
