Royal Saskatchewan Museum | Prognathodon
Researchers at Regina's Royal Saskatchewan Museum unearthed a gigantic fossil marine reptile in the grasslands of southwest Saskatchewan. The Prognathodon lived in the Western Interior Seaway — a shallow continental sea that extended at the time from the Gulf of Mexico to the Arctic Ocean during the Cretaceous period, about 75 million years ago.
This illustration shows the animal reconstructed in life (a monster nearly as large as the iconic T rex) and appeared in press releases about the find in November 2021.
